This topology originated in the early days of computing with computers connected to a centralized mainframe computer. Signals are transmitted from the sending computer through the hub or switch to all computers on the network. Set-up and maintenance of this topology are very difficult.The overall cost of this network is way too high as compared to other network topologies.There are high chances of redundancy in many of the network connections.The hardware required to connect each link (I/O ports and cable) can be prohibitively expensive.The sheer bulk of the wiring can be greater than the available space (in walls, ceilings, or floors) can accommodate.Amount of cabling and the number of I/O ports required.Expansion and modification in topology can be done without disrupting other nodes.Even if one of the components fails there is always an alternative present. ![]() This topology can withstand high traffic.
